Truthfully, it really doesn't reduce it at all. It only covers it up. I've worked in HR for 6 years and promise that it does NOTHING about descrimination if there is not full cooperation from the rest of the corporation.

Education about the differences between different cultures then celebrating those differences.

Stereotyping is best eliminated when being different is considered to be a good thing.

In our workplace we had several one hour meetings, each meeting targeted a specific ethnic group and the stereotypes, differences and unique circumstances or characteristics about that ethnic group were discussed.

Following the meeting we celebrated that ethnic group with a special lunch that featured music and foods along with art work from the group we had just explored.

Once people realized that the stereotypes are in fact gross generalizations and that the differences from one group to the next were a positive thing... there was much more appreciation for the diversity in our work groups.

I'm not sure if they actively do anything to reduce discrimination, but they do take reports if someone says discrimination is going on.

HR is evil. It's only there so that if anyone feels there is discrimination or any other problem they can come forward and then be hounded out.
