and it looked pretty bad, so I took her to the ER. They told me it was most likely broken. After the xrays, they didn't really know. They said it didn't look broken, but there was a dent in the bone. So they put a half cast/half splint on her and told me to take her to the orthopedic doctor. When they gave me my release papers they wrote it up as a contusion, which is a bruise on the soft tissue. So which is it? My problem is that it's going to be 4 or 5 days before the orthopedic can see her and I don't think she needs this stupid splint on. She hates it and begs for me to take it off. She hasn't been crying with pain only just wants the splint off. What would you do?

Better with the mold (open cast) than without it. Its also a precaution to stem any further injury. And if worse comes to worse and there was indeed a fracture, you would have benefitted from the few days worth of inconvenience than having it removed and see it worsen.

Well, most probably it depends upon with the amount of force she fell on the floor. share details with the most easily available or at hand person u can contact. as 4 the splint, it is the easiest and fastest possible way to heal any injuries occuring near the elbow and wrist. try not to mind it 2 much. u can warm that area by using a waterbottle etc. it helps up 2 some degree. the pain reduces. after some days ur daughter will b able 2 move her joint. she must do it if the bone has not been injured.

I am not sure what sort of expert opinion you expect to find here? If you have doubts about your daughter's treatment consult your doctor.
