I have a fishing rod. what do i press when it says there's a bite because the pokemon always seem to get away

Fishing is a bit hard in Emerald, when "I have a bit" pops us immediatly hit A. Then after more dots it'll happen again, hit A and a battle should insue, if not keep repeating the process until it does.

Just press the A button. And then a Pokemon battle will ensue, and you just weaken then catch the Pokemon.
