someone very beloved to me quit and it was a battle. but what he found out is, its A LOT about the HABIT of smoking.

so avoid those places where you typically smoked--at the office, back porch/balcony, etc. those places where just by being there, makes you reach for a cigarette.

good luck!

I am jealous..i am so addicted I don't know what I would do if I couldn't smoke.
Society makes it very difficult for smokers nowadays. You can't smoke in Restaurants,Bars,Airplanes,Airports..
I know you non smokers feel real bad for me..ha ha
I wish I had never started but my next door neighbor started me smoking when I was like 14..but I really never was hooked until I was like 18,and have smoked pretty much a pack a day since I was like 20,I am 46 now.
I read that if you cut down on smoking, there is no health benifit at all,and I am worried that if I quit,I will gain weight.
I also have heard that people who quit develop health problems after they quit.
I hope that does not happen to you..but 3 days is not long,I would not be doing the Irish Jig just yet.Let me know how you are doing after a month.
I don't even go out that much anymore since smoking is banned in bars and restaurants. I have saved money that way,but I am sure I could save a lot more if I quit smoking.
I probably spend about 70 dollars a month smoking ciggarettes.
Ciggarettes have been my friend for a lot of years, they are always there even when girlfriends have gone astray, personal ccrisises in my life, parties, keeping me awake when I make long driving trips ..etc...relaxing with a few drinks.

Calendar if you quit smoking right now;

Within 20 minutes: Your blood pressure drops. The temperature in your hands and feet rises.

Within 8 hours: The carbon monoxide (a gas that can be toxic) in your blood drops to normal.

Tomorrow: Your chance of having a heart attack goes down.

Dec. 14, 2006: You can taste and smell things better.

Dec. 26, 2006 - Mar. 12, 2007: You have better circulation. Your lungs are working better.

Jan. 12, 2007 - Sep. 12, 2007: Coughing, sinus congestion, fatigue, and shortness of breath decrease. Your lungs start to function better, lowering your risk of lung infections.

Dec. 12, 2007: Your risk for heart disease is half that of a smoker's.

Dec. 12, 2011: Your risk of having a stroke is the same as someone who doesn't smoke.

Dec. 12, 2016: Your risk of dying from lung cancer is half that of a smoker's. Your risk of cancer of the mouth, throat, esophagus, bladder, kidney, and pancreas also decreases.

Dec. 12, 2021: Your risk of heart disease is now the same as someone who doesn't smoke.

Watch out for cravings, sneaky things, just be strong and breathe deeply until the craving passes. I avoid drinking alcohol now as well, as that makes me want to smoke. Stay positive and you'll get there. I stopped 9 months ago.

Congratulations! Watch out for friends/family that smoke. I've quit and then started again so many times because most of my friends smoke and so does my boyfriend. Just being around it and not being able to do it was torture.

CONGRATULATIONS!!! Good for you! I quit smoking (ok, twice) my last time 6 years ago. I don't really find myself having cravings much anymore, but some 'triggers' are: seeing people light up on TV, smelling 'my brand' out in public, second-hand smoke, high-stress situations, etc. But, like you, I've never felt better!

Congratulations. I needed a heart attack to stop smoking.

I tried many times to quit. Watch out when you're in the 6 - 9th month. Many people assume that they are no longer smokers, so having just one is "OK"...... it's not.
