Agree with most accept,.. Tackles are typically more athletic thatn Guards,.. they need to be quicker so they can stop defensive players from running arounf the outside of the line to get to the quarterback,.. Guards have the center on one side and a tackle on teh other, thus their space is more restricted, and thus its more of a strength issue... for more evidence of this,. compare average size speed and 40 times of the upcoming draft class when they come out in may and you'll see what I'm talking about

Tackles typically are going to have a little quicker feet, better for dealing with fast pass rushers off the edge. They do this more often than guards pull.
Size-wise, I think they're pretty comparable. But guards may, on average, be bigger, since the defensive tackles across from them usually are much bigger/heavier than defensive ends.

There are five offensive lineman on any given play. There are two tackles and they play on both ends of the line. There are two guards and they play next to the tackles on the inside of the line and of course, the center plays, well, center.

the main difference is their assigned role. the guards main task is to provide run blocking. the tackles main task is to protect the quarterback in passing schemes. however, both tackles and guards are active blockers in both running and passing schemes. because they man the ends of the line (except for plays where tight ends are used) tackles are taller and more athletic than guards, in general.

the guard is lined up one person removed from the center and is usually bigger and slower, while the tackle is two people removed from the center on the line and is often a bit smaller and quicker to better be able to pick up the pass rush

Guards are typically more mobile so they can pull and pick up linebackers. Tackles tend to be bigger and better pass blockers.
