eugene got it right! heavy materials like gold and silver are only created inside stars.

in fact, the very constituabnts of our bodies are mostly star stuff, as Dr. Sagan would say.

The reason we find gold and other metals associated with certain other minerals is because their molecules fit neatly (like a key in a lock) with them. For example, gold is found in veins of quartz.

All aspects heavier than hydrogen and helium are theorized to have been created in the cores of huge stars with the aid of fusion. a huge famous guy or woman can fuse aspects in its middle till iron is produced. at that element, fusion won't be able to create greater warmth and the famous guy or woman starts to interrupt down from its own gravity. This give way can set off a supernova explosion which will seed the interstellar medium and the airborne dirt and dust clouds with the climate created for the period of its lifetime. And the fantastic warmth and stress of the explosion can create aspects heavier than iron (gold, silver, uranium, lead, etc.) and those are additionally expelled into the interstellar medium. the subsequent technology of stars and planets then style from this enriched fabric.

The earth does NOT produce gold or silver. It requires a strong nuclear reaction that only occurs - believe it or not - in super nova star explosions. Pretty much any element on earth heavier than iron is a product of the stars.

Here's some info ...

The earth doesn't create elements. They were present in the earth when it cooled billions of years ago. Elements (except for Hydrogen) are created by nuclear fusion deep inside stars and by nuclear fusion during nova and super nova events.
