Only you can really answer that. I like the name 'Jamie' for a girl, but you may completely dislike that name. You may even come up with a name for your baby, and after the baby is born realize it does not suit him/her. Only you can figure out what the perfect name for your child is.

Everyone who has said that only you can know best are right on track. There are several different ways (and reasons) that people pick names. Some people pick names based upon what they think sounds nice. Some want a common name, and some want an uncommon name. Some pick names based upon people they like or admire. Some pick names to honor someone.
My son is named after my maternal grandfather and my husband's maternal grandfather to honor both men, who are deceased. It was in part for ourselves, to continue on those wonderful men in our son, but it was in large part for each of our mothers, who are extremely proud to have a grandchild named after their respective fathers.
When naming a child, however, I think you should also make sure to be considerate of the child. Keep in mind a few questions. First, would you want to walk around with that name? There are some names that are so old and out of fashion that they are hip, but really, there are some names that are so old and out of fashion that your kid may be teased or treated like an outsider just because of his or her name. Second, is it a name that is easily open for teasing? Although I'd be afraid to post some examples, simply because I would not want to offend anyone, I'm sure that you'd recognize the names when you see them. Third, check the initials and make sure they don't do something like A.S.S. or something else that might be easily used against your child. Fourth, if you were an employer, what impression would you get from the name? Yes, believe it or not, although no one does it intentionally, sometimes you give an impression on a resume solely based upon your name. This is particularly so if you use an ethnic name. If you were an employer seeing a resume for Schlomo Cohen, could you possibly guess his religion?
While there may be other factors to consider, these are the ones that I think will at least get you started. There are also a lot of baby name books out there, and I'm sure that if you did a search on Google for "baby names" (particularly if you put it in quotes) you will find tons of lists of baby names.
Congratulations on your child. I am confident that, just by the fact that you are thinking about this issue, your child will have a wonderful name. Good luck and may he/she have a long and wonderful life (and may he/she bring you many grandchildren).

Funny, my top names are on the short list proposed by the person with the heart name... I'm due in January and the baby will be Chase Alexander. My top girls name is Jocelyn, but my husband's choice is Celine. Meaning is important. I hate my own name because it doesn't really have a special meaning, so I feel like it's worthless...

My "perfect" name will be completely different to your "perfect" name. I called my son Garrett Elijah but to you that might sound awful. You have to go with what feels right, will sound alright in 10 years time and ultimately suits the baby. When I was pregnant I wanted to call him Dillon but when I saw him I just knew he was Garrett. We can't tell you what's the perfect name for your child, only you can! Good Luck!

Just pick a few you like, before the baby is born, and when you see your child, you'll know. My younger son was all set to be named Maxwell (Max for short), but that just didn't suit him once I saw him. Noah was another name I liked and he just looked like a Noah, so he that's what we named him. Good luck!

well that depends on if your baby/child is a boy or girl! and it also depends on what names you like depending on if your the mother or father. my brother and his girlfriend just had a baby about a month ago, a girl and they named her abigail. thats a nice name for a girl. now when i had my son i named him issac. some people go with nathaniel for boys or micheal, or conner.those are just a few. heres a couple more girls names cherie, naomi, jacqueline katie, nicole. i gave you a few, theres so many have you thought of getting a baby names book. that would be a suggestion. look through one and you decide what you like. good luck
