When I was young the family would get together and make the christmas candy and string popcorn on thread and have a taffy pull to make that most delightful taste of real taffy.
Do any of you do that now?

Bruce_aur, I sure am glad someone remembers but it appears there are few that do. I guess we are getting old. I do remember and sure would like to do it again but most likely not as I am in another culture now. I hope you can manage to at least join one more time.

I remember! Wow this is really a wonderful tradition if you got a chance to be there. If you were there like I was you would remember maybe your grandparents and especially your grandmother talking about taffy pulls at famiy reunions. It was fun and instructive, it blended all the generations into a joyful activity, it was real America in all it's glory when you never locked your doors at night, and dogs were allowed to run free, and the ice cream trucks slowly cruised the streets playing their songs. This was an era of Taffy Pulling.

no, sad to say these times are gone the way of most and are just memories " of Christmases gone by. "
