Well, there are two possiblities. A 'model' can mean like a copy. Get a kit for a plastic model at the toy store. You just glue the parts together. Or, your teacher might mean 'small' airplane that actually flies. For this go to a hobby shop and get a balsa kit. It can be a glider or a rubber band powered plane.

If your teacher wants you to design a flyable plane, you need to make a simple design that can be built out of plain balsa sheets.

There are some simple principles that must be followed.
1. The left and right halfs must weigh exactly the same.
2. The front to back balance point needs to be in the main lifting wing, about 1/3 of the way back from the leading edge.
3. Stability will increase if the wings slant up to the tips about 10 degrees each. (as a flat V)
4. Right/Left stability will be increased by adding a vertical piece. This can be above or below the rear horizontal part, but it is commonly above.
5. Climb and dive rate can be reduced by increasing the length of the body.
6. The lift is provided by the curviture of the wing. Only a little curve is needed.

You can cut balsa sheets with either a razor knife or scizzors. You can use wood glue or white glue, but wood glue dries faster.

;-D Plan on making several and have fun designing them!

Go to your nearest hobby store. And buy any one of the millions of aeroplanes that they sell. You could build it in an exploded view form, and in detail name what each and all the working parts do as the plane is flying. I'm sure someplace on line would have the information you need to detail the working of an aeroplane.

on posterboard, find a 3 to 4 inch circle, imagine a mercedes symbol, widen the spokes to roughly 3/8-1/2 " with roughly 1 square" in the hub. warp each spoke after cutting it out so it resembles a >- with a leading and trailing edge. now hit with a pencil from the side, it will lift and fly till momentum is shot.
#2 easy, model airplane kit the windup 1, you wanna glue the wings after breaking them in half, and laying + to form a rough square of thicker material. cut a round or oval shape. glue the 1/8xlike 1/2 stick(1 inch protruding from the round so 4 inches or so) underneath the round(wing). thin side is bonded. add a lil clay until its balanced, it'll fall out of your hand and glide across the room.(almost forgot, small 1/4" stabilizers, foil shaped on the outside of the wings, like1/4 in from edge and whole distance. mine glided from a kids waist past a workbench and a pingpong table with no forward throw.
or my personal fav, get a model rocket and launch it sideways, then answer even a 2x4 will fly with enough reindeer dragging it(J.D.Roberts)
small bit of trivia, stealth tech came from the flying wing (49-51?) abandoned by the powers that be. built a few models and watched em crash and cried over every darn 1!!!!!!!
