I agree, but with one reservation.
We already have hundrends and thousands of people living on 'charity' in the UK. Single mums, teen mums and other unemployed people. At the same time Eastern Europeans are coming and finding work in the UK easily. If some of those living on benefits went out and got a job, the government would be able to help more of those who really need it.
Also, some people in the third world really have nothing, and th cost of providing them with a school, a teacher etc is so much less than what it would cost here so the money we give goes further.
People in the UK have enough opportunities to help themselves. The starving in Africa don't.

I think there has to be a way to do both. I'm all for giving to people in your own country. But there are needs in others that have to be met, too. People in some of the foreign countires don't have the resources that we do, and would have a harder time fending for themselves. We need to find a way to do both, help our homeless and still help people in other parts of the world.

How generous.
Of course it is right for 1st world nations to screw over the 3rd world with unfavourable trading terms, and then not even feed the starving people that result from the raping of 3rd world resources.
Of course there is nothing stopping us helping both those at home and overseas.

It will get worse if Brown gets to be PM - Africa is his big passion - to the point he doesn't bother about Britain apart from when he is busy inventing new taxes.
