The number of chromosomes in sperm cell or spermatozoon is half the number found in primary spermatocyte or a hepatic cell or a cheek cell. The number of chromosome in the sperm of man is 23 in normal case.Out of these 22 are autosomes and one sex chromosome which may be either X or Y.
