So true! When I was little I couldn't pronounce lingerie so I always called it Linguine. :)

You are havin a laugh aren't you. It's a French word. They call sea "mare" but it's got nothing to do with female horses has it???
And Lingerie has nothing to do with length. You are joking aren't you. I mean nobody is that dumb....are they?

The word comes from French. "Lin" means "linen" in French, and "Lingerie" has come to mean underwear in French. Because French underwear is known as the most beautiful and seductive, the word was also adopted by English.
