Yes it is approprite for a woman to wear a tie, provided you wear it well, with the appropriate dress. There is no problem with a woman wearing a flying tie.

I gave a tie with musical notes and instruments to a fellow psychologist, who happens to be female and a musician. She loves it, wears it a lot, it fits her personality and it looks really nice. I say, in some cases, it is very appropriate.

People use to do it when Avril Lavigne was big........ If you want to wear it is okay but it is out of style. If you want to express your self do what ever it takes because people do that all the time. There is no right or wrong answer it depends on her style of clothes!
