This 'fashion' thing has its origins from American prisons, apparently.

I'm not sure why, but maybe it's that fighting and running is a problem if your jeans / pants are halfway down your thighs.

I'm curious as to Why so much that is fashionable now was once what we used to see clowns in a circus wearing? Is it showing solidarity with the dumb and stupid, like not being able to wear a baseball cap the right way around?

Sash.

It's not just black people. I see lots of young men of all races wandering around with jeans that look like they're about to fall down. They seem to get progressively lower as well - it used to be a little bit of calvin klein waistband that you showed, now it's entire pants, with the belt holding the jeans up around the upper leg rather than being anywhere near the waist. Mental. And draughty, i expect.

first element,it truly isn't any longer in problem-free words black those who dress like this. sure, maximum folk of persons who dress like this are black, yet i have considered all races do it. to illustrate, some white boys who skateboard dress like this. next time you've a question like this, you need to say, why do "some" black human beings attempt this,or why carry out a touch black human beings attempt this.do not purely slender it all the way down to black human beings more often than not because no longer all black human beings do an same issues. My boyfriend would in no way positioned on his pants so that you need to be certain his underclothes. He wears them at his waist, with a belt. So please do not decide all and dissimilar an same way.

I agree with what everyone else has said, it is not only black men. I am black and I don't wear my pants below my waist. People think its a trendy fashion look, when in reality, its is NOT. There is nothing attractive about showing your underware/butt to those around you without them asking to see it. If a lot of guys knew that this trend orginated in jail, Im sure they would stop doing it. Guys in jail would wear their pants below the waist, exposing their butt, so it would be easier for two men to engage in anal sex and not be caught.

Here in Kansas, it's the whites and hispanics also who wear the pants in the "waistband around the knees" style, (Although you are more likely to see a black person doing so.) When you take a minute to think about it, it's actually quite sad--I mean, do they really think that they look good walking around like that? I personally think it makes them look as though their mommy and daddy did not bother toilet training them when they were toddlers.

WHOA...... nice to add at the end that you're not racist, by the way, but it really sounds like it. Where I live, almost ALL guys wear their pants that way. I haven't seen any WOMEN wearing pants with their chonies hanging out. And my boyfriend does it because he honestly could care less that his *** is hanging out. And maybe there's not many stores that carry pants tailored to fit his rear end. I love it

Not just black people. There are a lot of young white boys at the college where I work who do this too... Maybe they just haven't discovered what a belt is yet...

Its not only black people that do this lots of young people do. So for you to ask why do black people do it is wrong. If people choose to show their underwear that is on them, they are not doing you or anyone else harm. You don't have to stare at them
