To maintain their innocence and beliefs in a harmless little lie is not considered a lie, how many kids grow up to be psychotics, or mass murderers because they found out that santa wasn't real. or that the tooth fairy was really mommy and daddy. These are joys that children grow up with and ultimately have very good memories of. When they are old enough, some are happy to discover for themselves that these are fairytales, happy to learn that it's mom and dad. Why should we spoil the beauty of childhood. Lord knows it will be reality for the rest of their lifes, once they know longer have the fairytales. Please ease up for the children's sake, don't they grow up fast enough today.....

Sorry no we're not celebrating the birth of christ. I believe history has establish jesus was born some time in march. For a start there were lambs around so december's not looking likely is it. What we are actually celebrating is the winter solstice. The shortest day and the day on which the earth is furthest from the sun. It's been celebrated for approximately 7000 years in the northern hemisphere. When the early Christians spread through europe they made chose to include their own religious believes in the already existing celebration.

I think you may be confusing a lie with a fable as well. The bible is full of fables, they are not considered to be lies. Santa Claus embodies the spirit of christmas. Generosity, appreciation for our loved ones, and good old fashioned fun. My understanding of the christian religion is these things are not entirely at odds with christian doctrine.

I hope you enjoy the winter solstice too.

Research the origins of Christmas and you will find that the tradition of Santa and the actual day this holiday is was originated from a Pagan holiday which the Christians then merged with the birth of Christ which actually took place in the middle of the year. Check it out and you will be amazed.

Christ
Known as Jesus of Nazareth after the fashion of the day.

Born of the Virgin Mary and father Joseph on their way to fulfill the requirements of the Roman census upon all Israelites of the time.

Birthplace; Bethlehem

There was only one Roman census ordered during this time frame by Emperor Augustus in Rome.

That Census occurred in 4 B.C. and began in mid February and was concluded by mid-March of the same year. Attendance at the town of the Fathers birth was mandatory which is why Mary was forced to travel 9 months pregnant with child.

Therefore Christ was born in 4 A.D. in Bethlehem sometime between February and March.

Ask your Pastor, Preacher, or whatever....... this is first year seminary instruction..... but not public knowledge......

I wonder why.........

Study any reputable encyclopedia or visit a well-stocked public library and you will discover that Christmas was celebrated by immoral, pagan idol worshippers—people who many times sacrificed their children to pagan gods—2,000 years before Christ was born! December 25th originally marked the time of the winter solstice. These idol worshippers held pagan festivals to celebrate the “rebirth” of the sun when the days began to lengthen. So telling your children that it is the birth of Christ is also lying to them. Tell them the truth, Santa and Christmas are both pagan.

We have never lied to our children about anything. They know that there isn't any such thing as Santa Clause. They know that the people who love them are the ones giving them the gifts and that the reason we do that is because Jesus was born on this earth( not necessarily in December) and gave the ultimate gift of sacrificing his life for all mankind. In rememberance of him we celebrate. We allow them to enjoy the Santa character the same way that we allow them to watch cartoons and other make believe things but in no way allow them to believe that the imaginary character is responsible for anything in their lives. They know to whom they should show appreciation and respect. The word satan can be found in alot of things so we don't go looking for boogey men behind every rock or backward lyric. The truth speaks for itself without having to result to philosophy. Lying about Santa is a choice made by many; I personally don't agree with it. Parents work hard and sacrifice for their children out of love for Jesus, why should they credit "Santa". When the children find out for themselves that he isn't real they will be hurt that their parents lied to them and thus the parents will have undermined their own authority and plant seeds of insecurity and doubt in their children.

In reality are most people celebrating the birth of Jesus? Thats a question for each person to decide. Not me but I know a lot of people who werent brought up that way thats what Christmas is about so why are they then going to teach that to their children and pass it on?

Yeah, and some of us lie to them about an invisible sky fairy that can make wishes come true. Some of us even try to force in to schools the lie that we did not evolve, but were created by this sky fairy going Kerpow one day.

true but also keep in mind that santa originated from SAINT Nicholas, but then again it was us humans who changed the saint into santa claus...but i wouldnt take it as far as to say you can spell satan out of santa, even if it may be true...we must remember the true meaning of Christmas but can't we have a little fun with Santa...it's all in good fun, AS LONG as you do focus mainly on the true reason for Christmas---> Jesus!

I agree, we need to be honest about Christmas and tell why we are celebrating Jesus Birthday to our children.

I did this many years ago with my kids. For as spelling satan out of santa well, we can take many words and spell the devil name or anybody else.

I think we need to teach our children the right way. And teach them all about God a Jesus. To grow up Godly ways.

As parents we need to teach, pray, and live our lives so our children can see God in us.

Hope you and your family have a great Christmas.

How a person gets saved:

3Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

5Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
6That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
7Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.

15That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.
16For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
17For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
18He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
