well you should do some research on the net to see what your mother board's Vbat setting should be... there usually around the 3v mark so I'd say yours is way to low.... when you find out what its meant to be you will have to go into your BIOS and change it

When do you get that error message? Before or after the Windows Logo?

If you get it earlier, try to reset the Motherboard settings. Bring everything to default values. There should be some option at the Exit section at the Bios Setup. You may change the battery as well. That is the easy solution (let's hope the battery is the problem)
If you get that error after the Windows Logo, then you have some kind of a virus or something. Try to see what programs do start when the computer starts.

I don't think it is the battery...because from my experience...you can run a computer with a dead battery.

The only problem is that without a battery...your Bios cannot store your settings in memory...and you need to reset the settings for your hard drive each time you start your computer.

Even so...I think this would only apply if you install the hard drive while the battery is flat. If it was installed before the battery went flat...those settings would already be stored in memory and would not be affected.

Another sign of a flat battery is that your clock will stop when you turn off your computer. So check your clock to see if it is losing its time.

As far as I know...that is the only two things the battery does.
