I bought some cloth diapers on Ebay for my little one due in March. I am SO glad we bought them this far in advance, because I need to know what some of you would do...
I got 23 from one lady that are obviously used, but still in good condition. No problems.
The other 8 seem to be very stiff. Were they dried in the dryer or bleached maybe? They feel HORRIBLE! I wouldn't want them on my skin, definatlely!
My question, should I throw them out, wash them in a vinegar cylcle (I know you shouldn't use fabric softener) Should I add an inner lining of terry cloth (has anyoe else done that with theirs, my MIL suggested that)
Any information would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

I agree with those who say that they were probably hung outside to dry. While this is a great way to get stains out (they get bleached out from the sun) and a wonderful way to save energy and take advantage of sunny weather, it does usually make fabric stiff as a board. Throw them in the dryer for a few minutes, they will soften up pretty quickly. I hope you have done your research enough to ignore suggestions such as Dreft or fabric softener.

As far as using an extra extra fabric of cloth as a liner in your diaper, your mil had a good idea- though most cloth diaper users use fleece to pull away mositure from baby's skin or something extra absorbant like terry cloth will be good for nighttime.

I would say it sounds like the were hung to dry... this usually makes things stiff... Try re washing them and drying them in the dryer... if not just toss them!

I would wash them in Ivory Snow or Dreft. If they still feel stiff, I would throw them out, or use them for cleaning rags.

Seeing that it is just 8 of them,I would go ahead and toss or use them as cleaning rags. You are smart to not want them against your baby's delicate skin =)

If they were stiff...they may have been dried outside.
