I'm not sure if I really understand what the asker really wants to know since it is nonsensical at the most and vague in the least, but I will hazard a guess.

Either partha wants to know how long it takes for light to travel from the Sun to the planet Mercury or he wants to discover what the light year of mercury (the element) is [which doesn't make sense at all to me]. Thus, I will give my answer to the former assumption as that one is more intelligible (this being a question in the Astronomy & Space category).

The answer is 2 minutes and 14 seconds (give or take a second during perihelion or aphelion). Distance of the planet from the Sun (in miles) divided by speed of light (186,000 miles/sec squared) will get you the time in seconds. From there it is simple math to calculate how long it is in minutes.

Hope that helps, partha.

There is no such thing as a "light year of Mercury" !!
What is it you want to know? Why are you asking all these questions about Mercury? If you want more information on Mercury itself, just go and google it or research it at wikipedia.org

A lightyear is a lightyear, that's it, independent from any planet or star. A lightyear is nothing but a measurement unit for big distances. (usually interstellar distances)

A light year is a measure of distance and is constant
9.4605284 × 10^15 meters

The length of a year on mercury is approximately 88 earth days

A light year is a distance measurement. IQ stands for intelligence quotient. Mercury is either a planet or a metallic element in the periodic table. How you put these two things together is beyond me.

A light year is 186,000 * 3,600 * 24 * 365 miles, or a little less than 6 trillion miles. It has nothing to do with mercury.

One heck of a lot shorter than the light year is on Earth! Good question, now I have to go to some of my space sites to figure out the answer, even if you weren't serious. If you were, I'll find the answer, somewhere.
