How do i download flash player on a mac ?

Every time i try my computer tells me that i do not have the right 'application'.
What does this mean and how can i over come it.
This also happens when i try to upgrade from explorer to firefox or safari.
Help

go to adobe co.uk and make sure you tick the for mac box b4 download

hrm... try downloading Stuffit Expander.
