As I see it. there are all kinds of people in the world. We may generalise and say that the human race is made up of the good and the bad. We are happy with the good side but it is the bad side that mankind should concern itself with.
In the bad side we see all kinds of perverts, misfits , serial killers, etc etc. Those that are insane and show it, those that are insane and do not show it , those who appear so nice and normal but who you could never in a thousand years think that they are capable of sick homicide..
But how do they get to be like that is also an interesting question. Too much freedom, perverted laws, lack of enforcement, an inadequate justice system, corruption among officials. inadequate police force , bad upbringing ....and the list goes on.
Beyond hope ? It certainly appears that we are getting there. With the human population increasing in geometric progression, and human resources diminishing in geometric regression ,we are heading for trouble, I firmly believe that as long as mankind does not (want) to do something about the drastic increase in our population and our diminishing resources for food, water and space we are dooming ourselves.

I don't think so. I do not think any human can become totally evil. Within each person there is goodness. Take Hitler - he was kind to animals and children that he met and Eva loved him so he could not have been totally bad. Or Raspitin - people say he was evil but he could heal the sick and make angry animals become calm.
I do not think anyone is beyond help and even the most wicked person will do some good things. I don't think any sane person would think of themselves as evil and thus will tend to do what they percieve as good deeds even if those deeds turn out to be harmful or bad for others.

Maybe 'completely bad' is another way of saying 'insane.'
It all depends upon your ability to either qualify or quantify the parameters for 'sanity' (let alone 'insanity').
David Blane, for example, is supposedly (from what I have read) a 'Magician,' yet the stunts he has been doing may be 'done' to persuade his audience of some-'thing,' yet I don't see the 'magic' in them. However, I might suspect his sanity in wanting to do them.
Oh, and as for the part where 'they couldn't be helped by anyone or anything'...... My Grandfather used to say, "Never say never," which was after he heard my Grandmother tell me that 'the American astronauts wouldn't get to the moon.' Her reasoning for this statement was that, 'No one had ever been there before.'

It depends what your concept of 'bad' is. I doubt many people who you describe as 'criminally insane' would think there is anything wrong with them. They would excuse their behaviour to themselves by believing that everyone is like that.
We have created a selfish society, where lots of people want choice, but refuse to accept responsibility for those choices.
I do think there are people who are just bad, the problem is that they don't see themselves as such, believe it is their choice to do as they please, and take no responsibility for the consequences of their choice on the rest of us.
How do they get like that? Peer pressure? Bad upbringing? Or maybe just born bad, I dont think there is one simple answer, or that it is easy to fix. If it was I am sure the government would like to hear from you.

I feel there is always hope for people - I also think that some have had bad upbringings- drug addict parents, little love or attention, never been read to etc. However, i think that once a line is crossed, it is perhaps too late for help. It's one thing shoplifting to feed a drug habit and another to go out and kill for the sheer hell of it. How can you ever guarantee that behaviour won't surface again?

Some people are just missing something. Call it compassion, empathy, whatever... Psychologist slap the title Sociopath to it but that is just a name put to the behavior, not a real explaination of what creates it. In my opinion, there's no helping those people. You can't put in what God left out.

What about Mr. President?
If You're Happy And You Know It
Bomb Iraq
If you cannot find Osama,
Bomb Iraq.
If the markets are a drama,
Bomb Iraq.
If the terrorists are frisky,
Pakistan is looking shifty,
North Korea is too risky,
Bomb Iraq.
If you have no allies with you,
Bomb Iraq.
If you think that someone's disused you,
Bomb Iraq.
So to hell with the inspections,
Go look tough for the elections,
Close your mind and take directions,
Bomb Iraq.
It's pre-emptive non-aggression,
Bomb Iraq.
To prevent this mass destruction,
Bomb Iraq.
They've got weapons you can't see,
And that's all the proof you need,
If they're not there, they must be there,
Bomb Iraq.
If you never were elected,
Bomb Iraq.
If your mood is quite dejected,
Bomb Iraq.
If you think Saddam's gone mad,
With the weapons that he had,
And he tried to kill your dad,
Bomb Iraq.
If corporate fraud is growing,
Bomb Iraq.
If your ties to it are showin',
Bomb Iraq.
If your politics are sleazy,
And hiding that ain't easy,
And your manhood's getting queasy,
Bomb Iraq.
Fall in line and follow orders,
Bomb Iraq.
For our might knows not our borders,
Bomb Iraq.
Disagree? We'll call it treason,
Go make war not love this season,
Even if you have no reason,
Bomb Iraq.

Yes I believe that there are some bad people in this world.
The reason they do these evil things are because they can, they think that they can outsmart the justice system and probably have been doing evil things since they were young without being caught.

Some people are nasty cos they have been spoilt.
My exes parents were great to him, kind and supportive.
He was a drug addict, a control freak that likes hitting children and his wife. He chased someone with a machete [his boss]
