Washing with soap and hot water at least 3 times a day is an absolute must. Try not to clog the pores with soap. Massage the face lightly using an upward and circular motion. Antibacterial cleansing lotions or medicated soaps are much better than harsh soaps. Non-greasy Cleansers and toners are meant to remove the excess oil, but sadly the oil glands refuse to be subdued, they trigger the oil glands to produce more oil. Oily skin care is a little more strenuous than care for normal skin.
In India, a mixture of lime and cucumber juice with a few drops of eau de cologne has known to work wonders. It keeps the oil at bay and also prevents acne. In fact a little cucumber juice only on the oily areas prevents make up from becoming patchy. Just ensure that the cucumber juice dries well before you apply make up. Aloe Vera, organic yogurt, crushed strawberries and a little borax acts as an efficient astringent for oily skin. Just massage the mixture well and wash with warm water. A mixture of Multani matti and honey works wonders for oily skins especially in tropical countries like India. Apply this mask at least a couple of times a week. Keep it on for about 15 minutes and rinse with warm water. The use of a light antiseptic day and night cream can keep the oil at bay.
Heredity and hormones play the key role in whether or not you have oily skin. The most important thing you can do for oily skin is to keep your skin clean using warm water and soap, or a soapless cleanser.
Clean your face with astringent pads if frequently washing your face leaves your skin irritated. Use only water-based cosmetics if you have oily skin. Diet probably has little, if anything, to do with whether or not you have oily skin

Toning lotion is a must: by tightening pores it keeps dirt out and allows your face to regain its velvety smoothness. Keep your skin very clean. Limit washing your face to two or three times a day. To cleanse oily skin, use oil-based products as they dissolve sebum effectively. Opt for oil-free moisturizers to maintain a shine-free complexion.
Home Remedies For Oily Skin:
To care for oily skin you should start with a gentle, foaming facial wash. This will remove dirt and oil without ********* away moisture.
1. Make a puree of fresh tomatoes, apply to the skin
2. Mix half teaspoon honey with egg white and one teaspoon lemon juice. Add fuller's earth or brewer's yeast powder. Mix into a paste and apply. Remove after 20 minutes with water.
3. To prevent the problem of your makeup becoming patchy either on the forehead, chin or nose due to excessive oiliness in these areas, apply a little cucumber juice on the excessively oily parts of your face, dry thoroughly and then apply your makeup.
4. Mix one tablespoon youghurt with fuller's earth and apply. Youghurt itself can be applied o the face. It helps to soften the skin and restores the natural acid mantle.
5. If your skin is excessively oily, mix in a few drops of eau de cologne. This not only helps keep oiliness away but also helps in refining the pores of the skin by acting as astringent, thereby preventing acne.
6. Make a pulp of raw papaya and apply. Papaya has a cleansing action, softening dead skin cells and aiding their removal.
Recommendations for Oily Skin:
1. Keep a bowl of water in the fridge and splash this cold water on your face 3-4 times a day.Cold water will not only leave you feeling refreshed but will also tighten the pores.
2. Follow up the cleanser with an astringent as this will remove all excess oil
3. Drink at least 8-10 glasses of water each day.Water helps flush out toxins from the body.
4. Use an exfoliant twice a week. These skin scrub products contains little granules that, when used with a small brush, provide deep cleansing.

I have acne prone skin also and I'll share my cleansing regimen with you. I use a wide variety of cleansers and things...
First I use the Clinique Foaming Cleansing wash to remove my make up
Then I use the Biore Exfoliating scrub
I use a microdermebrasion from Ponds (evens out skin tone! works wonders!)
I then wash my face with the Clinique #3 cleanser (for oily skin)
I use toner (Clean and Clear)
If I have pimples, I dab Benzoyl Peroxide cream on the problem area
Let dry then I use the Biore Shine Free Moisturuzer (Works GREAT for my shiny face! It keeps the oil; to a minimum)
then I add my foundation and powder (clinique).
I know it sounds like a hassle, but it works for me and its totally worth the time and effort ...make sure you use oil free cosmetics if you wear make up...the oil in the make up will wreak havoc on your skin. And drink plenty of water!

first of all avoid eating oily foods.then stop applying any creams or lotions for your face.use a good astringent to apply n keep cleansing it twice a day.keep washing ur face atleast for 3-4 times a day and immediately after coming from outside(not necessarily with a soap).last but not the least do consume atleast 2 litres of water daily without fail.it mostly depends on our diet.

Everyone's face becomes dry after washing, only people with dry skin should use lotion. When you have oily skin, don't use lotion after a bath, It'll become normal after a while.
And using ready-made/ home-made face packs also helps a lot to tighten your pores.
Try the himalaya mud pack for oily skin, my skin is not at all oily after I've started using it....use it once a week

You can use fresh lemon juice rubbed on desired area with inner skin of the lemon itself for about 15 minute every morning and night. You should get results within 15 days if you are regular. DO NOT USE GREEN OR RIPPED LEMON. Also increase your in-take of fresh orange juice (minimum 3 times a day).

The only thing that has ever worked for me is Clarins Ultra Matte Concentrate. It costs £16 for 30ml so it's not cheap but you don't need much and it stops shine in its tracks.
Good luck.
