Is ASTROLOGY as practiced today humbug????????

If you are an Indian you'll undrstand this better.

According to western astrology the position of consetellations, stars, etc. are supposed to be fixed that is to say that their postions would remain the same for (say) coming 1000 years or more.

But in Indian Astrology these position changes have been recorded for past many centuries. they are recorded even now.
So the position of these Nakshtras change and will keep on changing.
My zodiac has hence changed to pisces from aries (according to indian zodiac)

Hope this answers your question.

First of all, astrology is a pseudoscience and doesn't belong in the astronomy section. Astrology has always been humbug and always will be humbug.

However, this effect you mention is real and serves as a source of amusement to astronomers, as the astrologers wrongly assumed that the constellations would always stay in the same place. Well, they don't, because the earth "precesses" just like a spinning top. Over a period of 25,800 years, the direction in which the earth's axis points moves around in a circle, changing our north star, what time of year the seasons begin, and moving the constellations of the zodiac one full position (30 degrees) every 2,150 years.

Now, about Pluto...

It is true. Today the sun is at Pisces on 21 March and will soon be at Aquarious (do you know the term Age of Aquarious?). This phenomenon is called the precession of the equinox, first discovered AND measured by the astronomer Hipparchos of Nicea. The annual displacement of the Sun is about 50''.
This is but one of many errors of astrology - astromancy would be more appropriate.
