i used someone elses dvd recorder to record something from my video camera. it worked and i could play it on the same player but when i got home and tried it i realised i cant watch it on any other dvd player, unless its a dvd recorder, why is this and how can i avoid it?? plz help! xxxooo

I found a similar problem. on my system. all you have to do is take the disk back to the machine and perform the FINALISE function. this should make the disk readable in any standard DVD player

Trial and Error. Different DVD players will play different DVDs. For example my home DVD player works well when I use Memorex or TDK DVD+R's but it does not play DVD-R's. My parents home DVD player will not pl;ay the DVD+R's that I have made for them, but they will play DVD-R's. Some DVD players are so picky that even the Brand can cause issues. I tried GC DVD's but they always did not play, but I found the above to work better for my players. Hope this helps a bit..

Have you finalized the disc yet ? Most dvd player will have problem reading dvd that's not finalized, not to mention that it may not be able to read the format use by the dvr to record the disc.
