That is neither pride nor business sense. Pride is something you take in a job well done. $5 an hour for 12 hours is $60 -- money you can use to feed, shelter and clothe yourself and your family. It's money you earned doing work, not sitting around begging for charity from those with the pride & guts to get out and earn it.
Some non-Americans even manage to send money home on those wages -- and support families, pay medical bills, provide education and improve the lives of family members back in their own country where the dollar goes much farther.

People will say, "The Mexicans will come here to do the jobs American's won't do." The thing is, the wages the Mexicans are getting are diddly squat, but they're better than the Mexicans would be getting in Mexico. If the going rate for that job is $20 an hour, and the boss is paying the Mexicans $10 an hour, then there you go. It drives down the wages of many jobs, and you can see why so many Mexicans come here to America. The bosses are short-changing all the good American workers out there! Plus, the Mexicans won't piss and moan for the wages they are getting, since most of them are illegal. They also won't complain about unsafe working conditions, which keeps costs down, and makes the boss very happy.
There's a reason why Mexicans love to come here. They can have a family of 10 kids, and get welfare because those kids are American citizens, since they're born on American soil. That's why we need to repeal the birthrite law, so they can't come here illegal and have kids that are citizens. Nevermind the fact that they have no education when it comes to sex, and can't stop having so many babies. We are a planet of 7 billion people. We're not rebuilding! The Great Flood happened ages ago! It happens too often in the barrio. The girls there sleep with every guy in their barrio, and before you know it, she has 10 kids with 5 different fathers. It's ridiculous, and needs to stop!

Bee, these people ARE on welfare.
nobody works 12 hours a day for 5 bucks in America unless your in prison.
In other countries it is a different story, but I think your question is specific to America.
"non-Americans" work any job they can in this country just for the chance to live here. The ones who take jobs that pay extremely low wages are illegal. Americans on the other hand were raised with a higher standard of living and are generally more educated.

you want to know the reality ... $ 5 per hour in dangerous conditions is still $ 5 ... and $ 5 translated to other countries currency is too high ... so for them it is always worth doing that ... these ppl live in hazardous conditions ... work for 3 or 5 years ... collect as much money as they can and then return home ... it ll earn them huge sums in their own countries... these ppl are basically illegal immigrants ... but for some legal ppl of different nationalities because of the toughness and harshness of life they have known in their countries is the same ... plus they get paid more .... so its no biggie for tehm ...

for the money.
if u work hard in your country and have no cance to have a home, a car to call your own.
if you work hard in your country and don't have the money to pay the bills and give food to your children.
then you go to america or to a developed european country and for the same hard work you get a home, and the chance to support your family
education has been metioned in the previous answers. it has nothing to do with education.
are you triying to say that if you were in a "Lost" situation you would sit on your *** and not work because you;re to educated to do that? work, no matter how hard it is, is not for the uneducated. people don't like work. but other people need the money. humans don't like work but they have to work in order to survive.

Because they want to eat and shelter themselves and their families and have more pride than Americans than go on Welfare and get handouts. That used to be the American way until we got greedy.
