But isn't a *good* thing that you're from different genepools? That way you're definitely not related and won't have inbred children...

;)

Are you breaking hearts on the internet, young lady?

I guess you can meet your soul mate anywhere, it is just a bit scary to meet ANYONE on the Internet. I have however met my current b/f on the Internet, and we have now been together for 7 wonderful months. I was lucky that what he portrayed himself to be, was true. I also have a VERY special friend in Ireland. We are BEST friends and also met over the Internet. We have spoken almost everyday for 9 months, have chatted on the phone, and plan to meet up next year. As far as I can gather, he is who he says he is, so I have indeed been lucky. There are however people out there who lie about who they are, so be very careful. Don't listen to those people out there who give you negative and opinionated answers to this question - follow your insticts and your heart. Only BE CAREFUL. Like I say, there ARE alot of lying wierdos out there. Good luck, and I hope you find the same happiness I have.

No I don't. It is far to easy to portray yourself as someone you are not on the Internet. I feel that while the Internet is a good place for sharing ideas, and information, it is still far far to dangerous to try to find a "soul mate". More that once, people have been fooled just this way, and unfortunately, some have paid the price with their lives.

i think you have to be very careful but i do believe it is possible. 6 years ago i met mine. he lives in venezuela, and i have talked to him longer than most people and to this day i believe that if the circumstances had been different we would have been meant to be together. we still talk and share a lot.

I really doubt it. How do you even know this person is the gender they claim to be?

If you meet this person do it somewhere public.

It's not impossible they might be the right person for you, but you'll only know given time, and really meeting with them.

(For all the successes mentioned here, how about all the failures?)

No. I certainly don't think the internet has anything over real life.
