Yesterday i bought PS3 and after inputing all of the information needed to get on my secured wi-fi network, i found that i would get disconnected every 50 seconds or so. this is very frustrating because my computer and my xbox360 both have wireless connection in the same room but i don't have any problems with getting disconnected as often as i do with the PS3. The signal strength would fluctuate from 55% to 40% then i would get disconnected then it would reconnect again for 50 seconds then i would get disconnected. i understand that isn't a GREAT connection but the problem seems deeper than not having enought signal to connect. i wonder if something is wrong with the build-in wi-fi on the PS3 or that i didn't set up my wireless connection properly.

Don't worry. You are not alone. I have the same problem and I have checked with Sony Entertainment as well as performed an extensive search on the Internet (probably you have done the same too). Based on what I found, I understand that it is a matter of the pairing between PS3 and the router. Most people using router in "B' formate (a 2 years old technology) encounter the same problem like you did. I am using a Linksys router model number BEF...11W and it doesn't work but lots of my friends who are using Buffalo and D-link do not share the same problem.

Nevertheless, if you are using a "G' router, you should check whether the setting correspond to the PS3 required standards. You might need to open the gaming port or turn off the WEP for better connection. If you want to give a try in respect of the setting, you can do a search on google about the PS3 wireless connection problem and you will be able to find lots of information.

Hope it helps...

In order to set up a Wi-Fi network in you house you will need a router. I suggest linksys WRT54G wireless router. It usually comes with an ethernet cable in the box (hopefully) what you do is open it up install the CD and follow the instructions it will give you detailed instruction on how to set up a Wi-Fi network

You need to get a WI-FI hot spot in your house and put your ps3 there.
A WI-FI hot spot is were you have an internet connection, for example: put your ps3 in the same room you have the internet and a computer.
It may also be that you havent registerd with WI-FI most of the time you dont need to register.
