I don't know how that works with religion.
But don't believe everything a person says, based on his/her religion. That would be naive.
Sometimes the truth in the middle.

Labels are weird, because nothing is really just black and white (except skin color...and not even that always...). If someone tells you he is a Christian, take that to mean that he aspires to be a Christian, and nothing more.
