sometime the alternator goes out causes too much voltage in the system blowing lightbulbs, check your battery voltage with the car running. a parts store will do this for you. voltage should be 13 or 14 volts, NOT 16 or 17

I had the same problem a couple of months ago and it was moisture in the light that caused it. As I had just paid Cdn Tire $40 to change a light bulb I could not afford to spend anymore money on it, so I asked my brother what to do. He suggested I buy another light bulb at $10 and install it myself, which I did and I also took my hairdryer and dried out the light and caulked the outside of the light with a clear sylacone and have had no problems since. Good luck. Jean.

You say gone do you mean the lens or the bulb , if its the bulb have your charge rate checked overcharging alternators very often cause that fault , if its the lens i would say it was faulty . i shouldn't think it would cost an arm and a leg in a garage

Was it a halogen light? Did you touch it with your bare hands? If yes to both questions, you left a fingerprint on the bulb and voided the warranty. If you made sure you didn't touch the bulb and used a clean cotton cloth or cotton gloves to handle it, take it back and tell them it failed in 3 days, and they should replace it.

If there is a problem in your charging system that is causing the lights to burn out prematurely ( and it is possible ), it will be the voltage regulator - not the alternator. More than likely it was it faulty lamp. "Sorry; no returns on electrical components" is usually what you will get from the store.

get the charge rate of your car checked, if it over charging a bulb is the least of your worries, it could take out your ecu.

You most likely got a dud, take it back for a replacement. Make sure its a branded bulb, not some cheapo chinese.

Bad luck or you touched the glass when you installed it. Try another one.
