Sweetie believe me you need your cervix just the way it is if you want to hold a baby in there for 9 months. Try having sex when you are ovulating, its the only time you can get pregnant. You can get test kits for ovulation at the chemist.

Some ideas, although would recommend that your cervix is an important part to fertility that you should not be tampering with if you want to conceive.
Midwives have some sort of cream (I think it is progesterone based) to get the cervix to dilate to get a woman to go into labor.
Alternatively if you are really really desperate, you could try jabbing something sharp up there to try and poke a hole through it, but I suspect it might be a tad painful and although expect to carry a baby full term, .
Last idea would be using a red hot poker off the fire and jabbing that up there, and although it would be extremely painful, you would lessen the risk of infection, although don't expect to carry a baby full term,

Umm..I don't think you'd WANT to open it more than what it does naturally...and you know when it's open simply by feeling it. You also note the position (high or low)...it only opens during the fertile time, so if you find out when you ovulate, then you can pretty much be assured that your cervix is open.
The only time it will open more is during birth.

i dont think there is any way to purposely soften your cervix... but you can try your best to figure out when ovulation occurs ... bye tracking your basal body temperature and you can check The position of the cervix.... it varies during different times of your cycle. By checking the position of your cervix, you can get a good idea of when you are going to ovulate. the site belows tells you more in dept how to check or keep track of hope it helps
