Alcoholics Anonymous isn't very good. It has a success rate exactly the same as quitting cold turkey, so don't go thru that crap with AA. When my girlfriend says that we should slow down on the drinking, we usually work out together more, or watch movies together, or cook together more. I dunno, just find something athletic and stimulating to get the blood flowing.

Easy answer, but not easy to do! GO TO AA! GET A SPONSOR, at your first meeting, get phone numbers! Call them! If you want to give up alcohol, and am asking how you do it, you more then likely are an alcoholic, I am. A recovering alcoholic of 6 yrs., or more! I went to AA, I have a Higher Power that I rely on all the time. The first three steps of AA:#1. I am powerless over alcohol. #2 Only a Higher power can restore me to sanity. #3 Doing Gods will instead of my own. Once you come to grips with these three steps, and then honestly do step # 4, an "fearless moral inventory of your character defects" basically your "life", writing and writing and writing in a journal and asking questions.. 90 meetings in 90 days! and the first 90 pages in the Big Book of AA. you can buy one at an AA meeting, usually $12.00-$15.00. Sometimes you can find one at a second hand store for little or nothing.
But the bottom line, be honest, and get help! You don't live on an
island, and God doesn't expect you to go it alone, or he wouldn't allow AA to be in existence. He never leaves us without a way out! and always gives us what we need. IN Proverbs 23:29-35 describes what alcoholism is; and the 12-Steps of AA can be found in the Bible. If you wish, do some research look up a scripture for each step. It is a spiritual program, not a religious one.
Any way good luck, and work at getting off of alcohol, it is well worth the work. See it as a journey! If you wish , email me, and well talk. Or we can set up a chat room on yahoo to talk, or even an IM>ikesrecovery59@yahoo.com But Please no nasty remarks! I'm just trying to help you, and answer your question.

I gave up the drink after 34 years and it was nowhere near as bad as I thought it would be. Yes I had cravings but they do pass. I ve lost weight, my skin has improved and I sleep like a baby. I always believed it would be the hardest thing to do - impossible in fact - but it isn t. I enjoy flavoured teas, decaff coffee and water. I like my life now. It has a purpose. There is no magic solution - only willpower. Don t beat yourself up if you have a relapse. Everyone is different and we all deal with problems in our own ways. AA isn t for everyone (I tried it several times) but its not the only help available. But above all, believe it can be done because it can. I m over 100 days sober now and life gets better each day. Good luck to you.

Keep on drinking. Eventually you'll get bored of it. Remember how other things seem boring after you do it a lot?

Think constantly for a week to give it up. It will help. And blame someone for your addiction.
And take antacid.
