I'm considering Pharm as my major very seriously. While understanding that pharm is a great job to have both financially and emotionally, but the problem is I DO NOT like chemistry. I'm pretty good at math, maybe biology, but things like hexadiotride nitrocarbondioxide make me wanna puke (maybe misspelled). Did you guys/girls really had a inclination towards chemistry? or did you just have to get it over with so that you could become pharmacists? Would I be able to be one, although I'm not that interested in Chemistry?

Once you make it past the physical chemistry classes and start learning organic chemistry the classes get a little more interesting. I am in my third year of pharmacy school and cannot stand chemistry. I was actually surprised to find out that the amount of chemistry actually performed in pharmacy school is minimal. It's the process of learning the fundamentals prior to pharmacy school that is so difficult.

I would say the area that requires the most proficiency during pharmacy school is to be good at physiology, the study of the body's function. This is important in order to know how a drug interacts with the normal function of the human body.

To do well in pharmacy school you don't need to like chemistry but you do need to understand it.

Good luck, hope you decide to go forward with it.

You need to be good in pharmacy to do well in some of the coursework. Can you stomach looking at a drug molecule and determining the important reacting points? The pharmacy colleges take a good look at your Chemistry grades. Also, you have to have a good understanding of Physiology, a branch of biology.
I, personally, like chemistry.
Could you do it? You don't have to like chemistry, but you have to do well in it because it comes up again and again.
