The term "leader" means several things. It depends according to the situation etc.
Leadership denotes the ability to bring new and great things to the masses. It means understanding what a people want and how best to deliver. It means the ability to utilise intellect, foresight and vision.
Hitler was an excellent leader because he contained these qualities. It is a shame that he used his leadership for evil ends. He was an evil man, but a great leader because he knew how to invoke passion in the masses.
Gandhi was more of a follower than a leader. He was not strong but a weak docile pathetic figure who never gave a [BLEEP] about his people but was only concerned about his place in history. As a result he destroyed the entire country by keeping the Muslims in.
Lincoln's leadership strength lay in his aptitude for practicality and pragmatism. Moreover he was politically savvy and very smart and clever.
Stalin and Castro only ruled by force and fear, which isn't good because you will never succeed in obtaining your people's love and loyalty. You will only create hatred in the minds and hearts of your people and they will look at ousting you the first. opportunity they get.

Winston Churchill during World War II, along with Franklin D Roosevelt. People trusted them and they did not betray that trust.

A real leader is one who can lead others! They are all leaders in their own right but none warranting the title of 'A great leader'! The fact is there is none at all to be in that category!

If Leader is one whose follower follow him blindly irrespective of whether he/she is right or wrong, then it is HITLER. Whole country (germany) was behind him, you can't say this for others.
