What did Mel Gibson do to piss off everybody? i don't follow the tabloids. but if anyone can tell me, what did he do? i would really appreciate all the answers you can give.

Wow, like several other dumb celebrities (who shall remain nameless) he got extremely drunk, was pulled over and then went on a rant about how Jewish people are to blame for our wars. He made a public apology saying that he never meant it... Have you ever noticed how dumb celebrities can be? Take our California "govenator" for example, he said all Cubans were fat, how was he elected again?! At least he was right this time when he said "I'll be back..."

Actually, it goes way back. Most recently, like the other answer says, he got pulled over after marinating in liquor and went on an anti-semitic rant. Actually, I don't think it was caught on audio or video but the sheriff made a detailed report, parts of which were released to the media.
It was bad enough that (1) he was driving while INCREDIBLY drunk - his blood alcohol level was .12 (the state's legal limit is .08). Even worse that (2) he said "F------ Jews... The Jews are responsible for all the wars in the world," and then asked a deputy, "Are you a Jew?"
But what put it all into context was the controversy over The Passion of the Christ, which many critics said painted Jews as to blame for the crucifixion. In fact, the whole movie was considered by many to be anti-semitic, which Gibson denied. For his rant to come after that kind of criticism ended up proving everyone right.
And of course, being anti-semitic in an industry run mostly by Jews is not the best thing for one's career.
As a side note, it's interesting how this has been heralded as the end of his career. He's been homophobic for decades and has never been criticized for it outside of the gay community.

he ranted and raved basically, and insulted the female cop i believe, and also insulted Jewish people. that's the main thing people are pissed about, I think, the fact that he is so ignorant.
