Vista will certainly not be the end of MS. It may be the end of Windows as I agree that MS cannot continue to pour that kind of money into OS.

The one thing that this article misses is the fact that not everyone has high speed, or likes to do things online, so unless there is a way to use these applications off-line, then it will never kill OS, and need for standalone applications.

All I can say is that if I am a business I'm willing to pay for products that I know have widespread use, and support. I can't afford to lose productivity when internet or network goes down. I need products that will work independantly.

Besides by the time Vista and all it's service packs and special versions is all said and done, it will be 7 years later and the whole industry will be completely different by then.

That's why it will be some time before Windows, and ultimately Microsoft dies. What's gonna kill MS is their dabbling in businesses where they can't succeed. Xbox - losing money, their new MP3 player - will lose money. MS should stick to Software!
