The street is for cars and so are parking lots. Its up to pedestrians to look both ways and make sure no cars are coming or wait on the "sidewalk" .

Females have a knack of knowing the dangers. You failed to mention these females rarely are killed by the cars.that would certainly kill the males.

People seem to have the mentality that "pedestrians have the right of way" and that the oncoming car will stop because of that. Of course, if they are not in the crosswalk, they are in the wrong. Even if they are in the crosswalk, they still need to look before crossing. Just because you are in the crosswalk does not mean the car coming at you will stop. Hell, the driver might be changing the CD and talking on the cellphone while doing her makeup and not see you at all -- wham! ---OOPS!
And finally there is the money thing. "Go ahead and hit me, I will sue your A$$!".

If I'm driving and I'm in the right of way, I exercise it. When i see a bouncy ball roll across the street... I hit the gas to make a point. I'm up to 7 pedestrians so far.

Everywhere you are supposed to yield to pedestrians in the crosswalks. In Texas, you always yield to pedestrians. So its likely that you are in the wrong.

i agree, if your a ss is too stupid to stay out of the road, you DESERVE to get run over. that's why i hate those speed limits by high schools... if you're too dumb to avoid traffic, you don't deserve to be graduated into high school!!!! avoiding traffic, come on... that's right up there with "don't put your hand on a hot stove" and "don't jump off really tall buildings." some people are just morons.
