Mostly they are angry about living in the richest, most free country on earth. Some because that what is "in" right now. Some because they don't have the IQ points it would take to listen to the other great music out there. Some would like to offend Mom&Dad (if your parents are Baby-Boomers, you are S.O.L. because we have already done all the offensive things) Some because heavy metal/punk rock is (depending on the band) quite good and creative. Your choice.

I dunno...

I NEVER listened to music until I turned thirteen and heard the Ramones for the first time. My theory- I was always kind of a tom boy, and I liked to play at not caring what other people thought, but really I was incredibly self conscious. Seeing my friends transitioning into makeup and boys, and being interested against my will, punk gave me what I needed to stop caring about what other people were thinking and start worrying more about myself.

Kinda sappy, I know, but I wanna make sure you get that it isn't because I'm an angry person or looking for attention or whatever other theories people might come up with- I'm just trying to cure myself of stage-fright.

i myself listen to punk rock and have done so for years now. the main reason i got into it was the music. the whole style of clothing came afterwords. i didn't have many friends that were into it and i basically got into it on my own. i didn't feel like i belonged anywhere else and when i started to listen to that type of music i actually felt like where i was, i was meant to be. i felt a part of something important. that type of music just gives me hope in way when i'm feeling down. i can always turn to it no matter what. well i hope that helps.
