What is the dividing line when it comes to human rights?

I am transgendered this is not something I can help. I believe I was born this way. I also believe gays and lesbians are for the most part born their way. We all enjoy basic rights. I also believe pedophiles were born that way, but they cannot be allowed any right to be free if they cannot restrict their behavior. This is a pretty clear line because pedophiles can do a lot of damage to others. BSDM is a lot of grey area. Pimping and prostitution is another grey area. I guess I am trying to say is that, "When sexual orientation or diversity is involved, what are one's civil rights?"

How about:

The ongoing and accelerating erosion of American Civil Liberties?

The war on terror, protecting America at the expense of civil rights?

Something along those lines seems pertinent in modern America...
