I bought this girl at work some perfume called clinque "happy heart". There was another one called clinque "happy to be" which I think I should have got it had a lighter small, and smelled more younger. Should I take it back and get her the other one. Is this a good gift I dont wanna be cheap?

The key to a great gift in beauty is in versatility.

I wouldn't necessarily opt to exchange the perfume for one that smells "younger", as you want to put your personal stamp on a present as well as accomodate that person's needs and tastes. Talk to a sales representative if you want another person's opinion on the most appropriate fragrance.

With that said, if there is any question as to whether or not a person will enjoy your gift, definitely opt for a gift card and allow he or she to explore the various options out there.

Gift giving is not an exercise in being "cheap"--it's the thought that counts, so a $20 gift card with a nice accompanying Hallmark card will work wonders in getting across your generosity, but allowing the recipient, in this case the girl at work, the opportunity to find something special for herself.

In case you decide to make a trip back to the store (which might not be completely necessary), try getting her a gift card to Sephora, Ulta, Bath and Body Works or any other reliable beauty retailer, as well as a nice greeting card. She will definitely respect your generosity and be completely grateful for your having thought about her.

Good luck!

I love clinique happy, I've been using it since I was 14. And now I'm 21 and loving it more because it smells so fresh and young. I can't get enough of it.

have you given her the gift? if not, you can take it back to the store in exchange for the one which is better in your opinion. it's the thoughts that count at the end of the day. and no, you're not a cheapo. g'luck!
