Get married in Niagara-on-the-Lake ... my wife and I got married there last July and we were disappointed with Niagara itself ... after all the hype of being the honeymoon capital of the world, we were stunned to find Niagara Falls to be more like a mini Las Vegas ... Niagara-on-the-Lake is only 40 ks up the road and is far more romantic. If you want a romantic place to stay - try 'Bedham Hall Bed and Breakfast' - absolutely gorgeous and the hostess was just wonderful. The main point though ... is not WHERE you get married - it's WHO you get married to! If you are marrying the right person ANYWHERE is the best place in the world to be at that moment!

Without a doubt, visit and stay in Niagara-On-the Lake. October is a beatiful time of year, the colours of the leaves will be chaning along the Niagara Escarpment, and the Niagara River.

Tempature should be between 50--65, with the possibility of low dips and warm indian summer.

This is a link to the 3 main vintage hotels in NOTL.

Niagara Falls itself has some fun things to offer, the city itself ( I work there) has become focused on the casino resort, and there is some good shopping and fun to be had.

Good choice, enjoy your stay and good luck.

Wear warm clothes and bring an umbrella. Go to Niagara-on-the-Lake instead of Niagara Falls. Niagara Falls is full of USA kids coming over because our drinking age is lower. And people who can only afford day trips. It's like a day in Margate !

Niagara-on-the-lake is for the older, more refined crowd.

Adam is correct; Niagara Falls, Ca, is becoming a mini-Vegas, while Niagara Falls, NY, is a ****hole.

Niagara on the Lake is beautiful and pictoreque. It's truly the hidden gem of the region.

You can still go to the falls for a day trip, without being stuck there.

Lot of people have suggested you get married and stay in Niagara on the Lake. It is a good suggestion but if you have already made those reservations and can't get out of them, than at least make a day trip to the area. There are many day spas and shops in Niagara on the Lake that are well worth the visit and then there are the wide variety of wineries in the area. Here are a couple of links that will help you plan your visit:

If you are able to stay in the Niagara on the Lake area, here is my suggestion of hotels to stay in:
