What about Heath Ledger & Jake Gylenhal in Broke back mountain? They're straight... Or how about Colin Farrel? He played gay in 2004 " A home at the end of the world" or " Alexander"... He's straight, right? Or how about the new James Bond " Daniel Craig" ? He's a gay icon for some of his roles. He's straight. Gay for pay is nothing new. If you want to talk Straight actors playing gay on tv how about Eric Mcormack from "Will & Grace" he's straight too. I can go on & on about who's straight but plays gay parts. John Stamos is cute, but not gay. I wish... He does stand up for gay rights though. I thank him for that.

It's a job.
He's getting paid to play the part.
I loved John many, many years ago on General Hospital, he played a delinquent named Blackie.
He certainly don't look as good now as he did then or on Full House but then none of us do. :o)

My son is a stage actor in Vancouver. One year he played one of the ugly stepsisters in a very funny version of Cinderella. He has never dressed in drag before but he did it because the part was fantastic.
He most definitely is all man and not a cross dresser but he sure had fun during the run of the play.

Rupert Everett in My Best Friend's Wedding. And that show with Madonna. ( all of her movies are so forgettable) He plays a gay man in both but he's into chicks IRL.

I think he's just trying to get paid for his acting skills or... Maybe it's also a way to get noticed for doing something "shocking" , kind of like his ex-wife who was in X-Men totally naked (with paint on) & is dating a much younger guy.
