Just recently i went to play the sims 2 and when the family i was playing loaded they came up all blue and their faces were like next to them, and then when i went to create a new family it said " application has crashed it will now close.. or something like that" and i just installed the sims 2 nightlife and it's doing the same thing!!

Try to uninstall it and install it. Better yet, just reinstall. Call the phone number they give you.

Uninstall and reinstalling is sometimes the answer. Sometimes it can also be fixed by simply exiting the game and restarting the computer. If you're highly attached to your family I would try restarting it. Then, if that doesn't work, seek help at the sims site (thesims2.com I believe) and if all else fails you will have to uninstall and reinstall.
However. If all that fails. Your discs are messed up. This happened to a friend of mine who bought Open For Business. The friend couldn't get the management options to work and uninstalling and reinstalling didn't help. As it turned out he had managed to get ahold of a bum disc.

Reinstall it also check your pc meets the system requirements if it does download the latest video drivers.
