Its been about a week since my late period, but i'm only 15, and i've never been regular. I took a pregnancy test a little while ago tonight, and right away i saw only one line in the C section (negative.) Upon looking at it a few minutes ago, im seeing a barely noticeable basically colorless line in the T section. (positive.) What is this?? Am i pregnant??

it may be an evaporation line. Don't start freaking out until you take another test. The test is only good for about 5 minutes or whatever it says on the box. Good luck with everything

How many minutes ago was this?

Most pregnancy test instructions tell you that the answers are invalid after ten minutes so if it's been that long, you can't trust any new changes to the testing window.

My suggestion would be to test again tomorrow and to relax a bit. Whenever you are stressed out (like during a pregnancy scare), the stress can actually cause more hormone imbalances in your body which can make you even later than you already are.

If you are very worried about it or do not receive your period in another week, I would go to the doctor at that time and ask for a more thorough test.

Chances are, though, if you are pregnant, the home pregnancy test will show a positive result. So, if the results are negative, you can rest a bit easier.

If there's no color in the line, you should be OK. No matter what, when the urine crosses that line and it becomes damp, it will become a little more noticeable... I would suggest taking another test (even if it's just for your own peace of mind) just to make sure. The later in the day you take it, the less accurate the test is...so I would take one first thing when you wake up in the morning. Also, if it's before your missed period, your HGc hormone levels won't be high enough to register well. The only way to be 100% is to get a blood test from a doctor. GOOD LUCK!

oh, and there's a website (I think it's www.peeonastick.com) that's really helpful with these questions.

Did that second line show up after 10 minutes?

What's an evaporation line? Evaporation ("evap") lines result with the test's antibody strip just looks slightly different than the space around it. There is a line of antibodies (usually made from mouse cells) in the Control and Test section. The Control line binds with any liquid and turns pink (or blue, in tests using blue dye.) The Test/Result line turns pink only if pregnancy hormone is detected. If not, the moisture passes over this strip and does not turn pink. It may, however, become more visible when the light hits the moisture on the strip-- it may appear gray, colorless, like a "dent" in the test, or like a "ghost line." It may appear at any time-- as soon as the urine hits it, after a few minutes as the test absorbs the moisture, or after the 10-minute time limit. It may appear when the test is drying, or after it has dried. It may disappear as the test is drying, or after the test has dried, or not disappear at all.

The simple fact is that there is always "something there" that is slightly visible-- it's simply the antibodies on the test that would turn pink in the presence of hCG. When the test becomes wet, or as it dries, or after it dries, the antibody strip may become more visible. Therefore, all tests may have them. It is not a defect; it's just how tests are made.

A real positive is identified by its color (pink or blue, whatever the color of the test's dye is) and its appearance within 10 minutes of urinating on the stick. A line that appears after 10 minutes, regardless of color, must be considered an evap line and is caused by the test's chemicals changing. HPT's are rapid assay diagnostics, which means any results appearing after the "rapid" time limit of 10 minutes are invalid.

I would re-test using first morning urine as it contains the highest levels of the pregnancy hormone hcg.
If you are not pregnant you should really get on birth control if you are not wanting a baby.

It can change on the test after a few hours. That doesn't mean your pregnant.

Spend the extra $$$ and buy a clear blue easy test. It says PREGNANT or NOT PREGNANT

Nothing more to figure out, it's digital too.

If your only a week late and never regular, you still can't be sure yet.

the test shouldn't be read again after a certain time (it will say on the instructions, its usually 10 minutes) becuz you can get a false positive. You may want to repeat the test in a couple days, and try to do it first thing in the morning cuz your urine is more concentrated.

The best thing for you to do would be to take another test. If it comes back positive OR questionable, you should go see a doctor.
