I appreciate anyone athiest or christian to take the time to read my questions. My last question what should one do about the threats. Police wont really follow thru with charges because the religion card is pulled and gets sticky. i have only had 2 personal run ins witch required police action. One was agrevated assault on me because of shirt with a cross on it I was wearing ( I dont know what happened to this person but it was noted to police that I could have verbally started it, I did not know this person and thus no reason for me to mention religion at all). The other was vandalism (never knew who did it) on my car. Iam also threatened some times( not an everyday thing but an ugly situatation occurs once in a while, I have started one of these dialouges once because I was iratated and out of line, most of the time It is them). Iam beginning to think about getting a gun registered and have it in my car for this reason. Is this too far? what can I do to make me credible with polic

I would not suggeest leaving a gun in your car. It would probably just get stolen. You could take some lessons in public speaking and perhaps spelling and english.

I don't believe that getting a gun is going to help you. It could just make things much worse for you. The only reason I would consider for getting or carrying a gun is if your life is in danger, and even then you probably have other alternatives that would be safer and work better. Also, if you are going to get a gun you need to have some training in how to handle it safely so that you don't injure yourself or someone else unintentionally.

You might do well just to change things you do, avoid places where you are targeted for instance. avoid saying things that can anger the other person. or avoid saying anything at all.

You might need to take some self-defense classes or lessons that can help to deal with someone who insists to attack you no matter what you do.

Whatever you do, use your head and common sense. Don't get yourself into trouble or hurt or killed by being rash and doing things that you didn't think through first.
Good luck!

Take a self defense course. Your body is the only thing you can have with you 24/7. Training to use your body as a weapon will also give you exercise, and almost everyone could use more of that.

If you do get a gun take a course in gun safety and handling as well, because having a gun can actually put you in more danger if you are not confident in handling it.

And as for the people who say it is unchristian to protect yourself

Luke 22:36 Then said he unto them, But now, he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise his scrip: and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one.

If Jesus ordered his disciples to buy swords I don't think he would have a problem with you owning a gun.

I am not athiest, but agnostic, but I'm one of the few that admit they don't know. Here is my take though.

I still believe it's best to be a good person and treat others with respect. I am insulted that others are insulted by my opinion, yet I am expected to bow to theirs because we build buildings for theirs. At the same time, I love our country, despite the political powers that be spouting what they think it is. Our country is diverse in many ways, including religion. As my fellow brothers and sisters, I respect your right to practice what you will, wether it be Christianity, mormon, Catholic or KKK. I personally don't believe in any of it, but then again, I don't know.

I would appreciate the same respect from those of you that have found peace in religion. I have found peace in non-religion.

As far as your assault goes, your story is difficult to read. From what I understand, you had a cross on your t-shirt and you got abused? If you are saying that you are religious and are looking to get a gun to defend yourself, then you just negated your own faith. If you believe....
A. God will protect you
or
B. God's will is done
... then you don't need a gun. If you harbor fear, then you don't believe.

I don't think anyone should be hitting anyone period, t-shirt or not. We don't have to believe like our fellow humans, we don't have to even respect what they believe, but we do have to respect that they have the right to believe what they want.

You have to walk softly when it comes to voicing your opinion on the matter. It is amazing how many people use Christianity to their favor to get them high paying jobs. I guess it makes them seem more trust worthy. In other words don't bite the hand that feeds you. Anger will get you no where.( I think Yoda said it best)
