Can anyone tell me what five characteristics of African coups are?

Well they happen in Africa. To be serious though each coup is different- you are best off learning about them instead of trying to work out the common theme of African coups- individual coups have more characteristics in common with what is happening in other continents as well than they neccessarily do with other places in Africa- the coup in Egypt in the 1950s by which Nasser came to power was linked much more to developments in the Middle East than to anything happening in the rest of Africa at the time.
