Reasons?

If I'm doing some major purchasing then I prefer to go alone. Simply because I like to take my time and try on, not only the things that I plan to buy, but other items just because. And I hate being rushed by friends. Also, I like to take my time browsing as well--so alone is best for me.

It depends on the objectives of the shopping tour, the company on offer.., many things to consider here.
If I've got a mission, a plan, a list of things to buy- then I am focussed and driven. Singleminded in my persuit of what I need. Of course I'll also stop to have a look at other shops along the way- but the primary objective comes first!
However if its a social thing, and the company is good and it involves lunch and perhaps the promise of spending obscene amounts on luxury items then its with someone else.
Avoid groups of more than three (inc you) like the plague! You're always getting pulled into this shop and that- most you have no wish to ever set foot in.

I hate shopping alone, unless I have a time limit. Being with friends while I shop gives me added incentive to NOT buy on impulse. And it's like a party!

I think it is good to do BOTH. I go by myself if I have a certain look that I want to get or if I just need to take my time and just browse around. I go with friends more of to have a good time than to shop actually, since I rarely buy much when with friends. Your friends are good to give a second opinion if they have the same style. Overall, it depends on my mood and what I actually am going to do.

Alone.
I can spend as much time as I need in the fitting rooms!
When I shop alone, no one really knows my secrets LOL!
I shop when I have the urge to, so its according to MY TIMING!
I dont need the influence on the choices I make!
But between now and then, I go with my girl friends shopping! You need it once in a while :>

Alone if it's the hardware store.
With a friend with good fashion sense if it's shopping for clothing.

When talking about clothing: Alone because I find friends tend to take a lot longer to get stuff than me, plus it's a hassel to get back together when everyone wanders off when going to on clothes.

With a friend if I already know she has style and similar tastes...its good for a second opinion. If not I am happy alone browsing at my own leisure.

I prefer to shop with my friends, Why... because we can exchange suggesstions with each other, because your friend can be a good "helper" in selecting the things which you want to purchase.
