I don't know why,but I really feel down. Any way to cheer myself up or make myself feel happy?

I do something special for myself or treat myself to something I enjoy...a long bath, a chai tea. I listen to music that lifts my mood. I watch Last Holiday (the ultimate feel-good movie).
Also, consider spending more time in the light. Light can have strange effects on mood and often uplifts us...something about our internal clock or something like that. :)
good luck. i hope things get better.
Oh, one more thing...I also feel better about my life when I find someone being brave in a tougher situation compared to mine. I was down and went and got a facial from a MaryKay girl my age....she was pregnant, due to deliver anytime, in university and her boyfriend had left her the night before they were going to get married because he'd found out she was pregnant. her mom lived like an hour away and she was going to call her as soon as she went into labor, but she didn't really have anyone here to drive her to the hospital when she went into labor and there was no guarantee her mom would make it in time. it's terrible...but when we find someone else in a worse situation than us, it can make us realize ours is deal-able.
and if you haven't done anything for anyone recently, try that. give someone a gift or do something nice for someone. serve.
if it doesn't get better, consider seeing a counselor or someone you can talk things through with.

Hey Prodigal Son, sounds Great! But lets come back to earth for a moment. How long have you been on this 'happy' high? ('all the time') The pain and grief you mention that you see in others around you, doesn't that make you hurt too? Especially if you are close to someone and they are grieving awfully, or a friend dies... What happens then Prodigal? How long have you been like this, I ask twice because you wouldn't know you were happy all the time if there you weren't down some of it ~ true? Otherwise you could be having a manic episode and they can last even a couple of months! ...are you sleeping well, or have a bit of insomnia? So be-careful when (and if) you come down. But if you find that this is a permanent state of being, please mail me and we'll get together and do blood tests etc to find out your secret, patent it, then bottle it and sell it for millions!* Stay Happy Dude! The world needs more happiness in it, :-D

A way that I found surprisingly good is to just make a list of the things I am grateful for. Sometimes when I'm down I've lost sight on what's important. Making the list helps to put things in perspective. Hope this helps.

Well if you are feeling down I am sure that it is just temporary. Perhaps you are under stress. That's what brings me down. Slow down if possible and do something for yourself. Something you enjoy. Do some one on one visiting with a friend and have a good talk. Does me good. Keep smiling. It'll help. Others smile back.

I'll be honest. When I'm sad I've never found a way to just instantly make myself feel happy. I might do something to make me feel better, like play my guitar or piano, but nothing truly makes me happy. I have found that it's best not to fight it, just wait until tomorrow. Tomorrow usually holds the key to being happy again.

When i start to get that dark, down feeling. I try to tell myself that i am happy and that im going to get through whatever it is. It doesnt really work at first, but after practice and determination. It becomes real. Also i put music on and let myself feel for a little while then i get back to pretending to be happy. You truly do start to believe it it becomes real.

Think Positive!

I am thankful...

1. For the husband who snores all night, because he is at home asleep with me and not with someone else.

2. For my teenage daughter who is complaining about doing dishes, because that means she is at home & not on the streets.

3. For the taxes that I pay because it means that I am employed.

4. For the mess to clean after a party because it means that I have been surrounded by friends.

5. For the clothes that fit a little too snug because it means I have
enough to eat.

6. For my shadow that watches me work because it means I am out in the sunshine.

7. For a floor that needs mopping, and windows that need cleaning because it means I have a home.

8. For all the complaining I hear about the government because it
means that we have freedom of speech.

9. For the parking spot I find at the far end of the parking lot
because it means I am capable of walking and that I have been blessed with transportation.

10. For the noise I have to bear from my neighbours because it means that I can hear.

11. For the pile of laundry and ironing because it means I have
clothes to wear.

12. For weariness and aching muscles at the end of the day because it means I have been capable of working hard.

13. For the alarm that goes off in the early morning hours because it means that I am still alive.

HAVE A NICE DAY !!!

Exercising, in the sun when possible, while listening to really bouncy music helps me.

Another thing that makes me feel good is when I finally finish something that I have been putting off.

Helping those less fortunate then you helps as well.
