haha...i know it's only their rookie reasons...but doesn't it seem like vince young is the next tom brady (because he finds a way to win) and matt leinart is the next peyton manning (because he'll put up the stats) ?

I agree ... and don't forget the (non-quarterback) rookie Reggie Bush. What do these three have in common? They each could have been drafted by the Houston Texans, but were all passed up. The Texans will *never* live this down for their entire existence!

Not bad, not bad. I think Vince Young is the next Steve McNair for mobility and toughness, plus he's a gamer. Matt Leinert is the next, um Eli Manning? Hyped up and will produce average to above average numbers, potential to win big game still up in the air.

EDIT: I don't really like the Vick comparisons for Vince Young because I think VY will develop into a better passer than Vick has become, and he won't have to rely on the run. Leinert has a high ceiling if the Cards lock up James, Fitzgerald, and Boldin for a long time then he'll have some weapons around him that could put him at the Manning level - he might not have the talent of Peyton but he's got the tools around him to elevate him to that sort of level.

Vince Young is a winner ...flat out as is Leinart I think it will be interesting to see how their careers go. Just an opinion I think Young is a magic player not only the wins this year, but his last two bowl games Rose Bowl versus Michigan 2005, and against USC in 2006 and you see that he is a special player. As for Leinart he will put up some nice numbers with his receiving corps I just always expect the Cardinals to mess something up though.

1)comparing their style of play...

vince young=michael vick (drop back and run like hell if no one is open)
matt leinart=tom brady (pocket passer, read the D like no one else can, check down and find the open man)

between vick and brady, who has won more super bowls...

2) look at each team, titans and cardinals...
leinart is surrounded by talent, that if coached correctly, should be a playoff team and SB contender (bouldin, fitzgerald, james...)
too bad their O line is worse than a high school teams O line...
young really doesnt have too much talent around him. he can make a big play, but playmakers dont get to the playoffs (ie michael vick)

this is just one of many yrs for both players...in 5 years i wouldnt be surprised to see leinart w/ multiple playoff victories, pro bowls and league MVP potential...young will just be the next vick...a pro bowler whos a fantastic athelete but not a play off winning QB.

Matt Leinart is the next Joe Namath :-P ...as for Vince Young, I think he seems a little bit more like Michael Vick, because he can run.

Too soon to be saying either is the next Manning or Brady...

I'd be more apt to look back further to, say, Elway and Marino...or Staubach and Tarkenton.

That being said, Marino and Brady certainly showed up in rookie seasons, but most have to develop more before any true comparisons can be made.

I'm still betting Cutler could be the one from last year's rookie crop that will be the big gun in ten years time.

Over the long haul I see Leinart becoming a bigger star. Vince Youngs running and scrabbling style is not conducive to a long NFL career. Both of their careers will depend more on what kind of talent is built around them than their individual talents alone.

I wouldn't compare Vince to Tom because of their entirely different styles, but Vince has been very impressive of late.

Leinart might be Comparable to Manning, but we'll never know if he doesn't line up behind the center of a good team.

Or maybe he has been, and he isn't getting it done?

I think vince young is like a faster Mcnair, and less accurate, and Leinart is looking like a Jake Delhomme.

Can't say I totally agree - if Matt would actually get some protection from his O-line, he would win more games too. I think he has more longitivity. I see Vince getting himself injured time over time b/c he doesn't realize he's not playing college anymore and takes some stupid risks.
