Because most Jews were rich at that time?

No, I would not say that is the main reason. While some Jews did have money - they were often the money lenders in the towns they lived in - they were also considered lower class (as mentioned by another respondent). They have been considered "lesser" humans for a large part of history (e.g. see Shakespeare's "Merchant of Venice"). And don't forget, there was a lot of anti-Semitism around the world, not just in Germany.

Another thing to remember is that Hitler also persecuted gypsies, gays, Christians (he closed convents, monasteries, churches), etc. He was into eugenics, a social philosophy which advocates the improvement of human hereditary traits through various forms of intervention, which was also popular internationally post-WWI (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eugenics for more).

So in my humble opinion, he “cleansed” the population of Jews and these other “unfit” groups more as a “purification” to make the Germans more “Aryan”, not for reasons of jealousy because they had money.

Partly....but this question is much more complex than that. Actually, most of the Jews in Germany at that time were not rich. They were working class. Unfortunately, it was a very hard time in world economics, remember the Great Depression? Plus, Germany was still being punished severely for its action during World War I. With many people out of work, it was easy for Hitler to make a scapegoat out of the Jewish small businees owners, that were getting by. There is much more to that answer, but really it would take volumes. Hope thats a start for you.

No, I think it had more to do with Hitler's ideas of racial purity. How else can you explain Jews who fought for Germany in WW1 being sent to the camps?

The real Holocaust is the death toll from religion violence, but it's swept under the carpet.

no, it was discovered and written long ago by ancient men, even Aristotle cites that to keep slaves or the workers or masses in control , you instigate racism and destroy unity, when people are out for themselves they are easier to oppress, when people work together to protect their collective interest in one common goal despite their differences they are a force to be reckoned with and overcome adversity
