I don't have much experience with modern men's cologne but when I was a teenager (back in the dark ages), I loved the scent of English Leather. It just said handsome, well dressed man.

I love, love, love for my husband to wear colognes with a light pleasant smell. Ooh La La!!!! I just melt away in his arms. Ummmm!
