I am 18 and have just entered University. I have been reading a lot of phychology, philosophy, politics and doing a lot of mathematics. I am going kind of insane and the ideals that I learn from these books make life blunt and pathetic. Before girls were nice to look at but now all I see is grtoesque and vulgar reproductive games. The night no longer seems long to me(possibly due to mathematics), it is only from midnight to daw at 5:00am, so only 5 hours and it seems useless to sleep. When I try to sleep I get haunting dreadful ideas and thoughts about death, and how men before me have died, and I feel bad because so many great men before me are now no-existent. I have given up religion, commiting myself to study to aid men, but men's reproductive games are so vulgar, so overall I am going somewhat insane. How can I fix this problem, and don't suggest stop reading books because I wanna get really smart without the paranoia sideeffects

At your age, I was into the same kind of routine. In fact, after reaidng a couple of books on death, I had such a fear for it that I could not sleep at all. The fact is I did not sleep for over 3 months. I slept (kept my eyes closed) but my mind would not allow me to sleep.
My advice: Get over it. Face it. Form a though force in your mind, and get your mind to obey that. Something like this "I want to live and acheive . This achivement could be something in this physical or meta-physical world. Set your goal and reach towards it. There is also no vulagarity in anything. Surrender yourself to the ultimate along with the good and bad. Everything is the same. And stop watching porn. Watch movies where the ladies empower and win, where they help the society. You have to stop your mind from viewing them in only one angle.
You will sleep well after your mind is calm.

Don't ever take the sleeping pills route!!

1. They will damage your liver big time and you can get into serious health problems.

2. You will get hooked up on them and you won't be able to have a normal life any more if you don't take your pills everyday.

The sleeping pills industry is damaging our health by capitalizing on our ignorance, and by distracting people from effective and natural ways to deal with this problem. I had been taking prescription sleep medications [Ambien] for over 5 years. It stopped working and I simply took more. Still did not work. Nights were very difficult - medication put me to sleep but I would wake up after 2–3 hours with a strong sympathetic response (fast pulse, pounding heartbeat, wide awake alert). It was a very difficult cycle to break. I was really in bad shape due to lack of sleep.

After years of struggling I was able to cure my insomnia naturally and pretty fast. I followed the Sleep Tracks sleep optimization program, here is their official web -site if you want to take a look: http://www.insomniacure.net

Ohhh..and Good Luck!

I do have insomnia after playing sports late at night. (Last night for example, I got done playing hockey around 11:30pm, at a rink nearly an hour away) I have taken sleeping pills but try avoiding them because sometimes I oversleep in the morning as a result. I have a new age cd to listen to at night which really helps to relax me.

Insomnia (sleeplessness) is due to stress, dietary and medical
problems. By making small lifestyle changes like having a fixed
daily routine, relaxing and eating properly, insomnia can be
cured. I found the information at http://tinyurl.com/jfzpz useful
for getting sleep.

Keep reading the books and such, but do something fun and relaxing for yourself. This should be for at least an hour or more a day. For me crossdressing works and wearing a nightgown to bed is heavenly. I am not saying that is for you, but find something that is totally realxing and takes you away from your studies a bit. Ever gone fishing?

You need to step back and get an objective perspective aout life. I recommend you read "The Naked Ape" by Desmond Morris. Then "Life on Earth" By David Attenborough. Both brilliant British biologists.

If you can't sleep; drink a glass of milk before bed and/or eat turkey.
They both contain stuff that makes you sleepy. You can buy sliced turkey at most stores.
It has to do with a chemical in them...
Hope that helped!
